Dr Habeeb Shakila Banu
Dr. Habeeb Shakila Banu is a highly qualified and experienced family physician practicing at the Best Med Family Clinic and Home Care in Canberra. With 15 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. Shakila specializes in preventive and lifestyle medicine, as well as women and child health. She believes that an active lifestyle, proper nutrition, and positive social connections are essential for improving both physical and mental health.
Dr. Shakila provides holistic care to patients of all ages and educates them on potential health issues based on their age. She introduces measures to be followed for health optimization, taking into account each patient’s unique needs. Known for her child-friendly approach, Dr. Shakila is particularly popular among young families.
Dr. Shakila completed her MBBS from the Christian Medical College, India in 2009. After gaining experience in Medical Oncology and Anesthesiology, she moved to Singapore to start her career as a medical officer in the Emergency Medicine Department at TTSH. She further pursued her passion for diagnostic radiology by completing her masters at NUS Singapore and a fellowship from the Royal College of Radiologists in the UK. In recognition of her outstanding performance, she was awarded the Best Resident Award in radiology residency for the year 2013-2014.
Driven by her desire to work closely with the community, Dr. Shakila chose family medicine as her career path. She completed her post-graduate Diploma in Family Medicine from NUS in 2021 and was accredited as a Family Physician by the Singapore Ministry of Health and Singapore Medical Council in the same year. In addition, she obtained a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Medicine in 2021 and is registered as a Designated Workplace Doctor (All Hazards) with the Ministry of Manpower.
Dr. Shakila is actively involved in teaching medical students from LKC School of Medicine and mentoring students from junior colleges who aspire to join medical schools. She is dedicated to continuous learning and believes that it plays a crucial role in improving the standard of healthcare delivered to the community.
In recognition of her commitment to serving the public, Dr. Shakila was awarded the Community First Responder Award by SCDF for rendering assistance to a passenger in need during a moving flight in 2023.
Dr. Shakila’s philosophy revolves around the idea that “Your Best Health Starts Here!” She encourages individuals to stay active, stay healthy, and stay connected, emphasizing the importance of a well-rounded approach to overall well-being.
